Sabbats

The sabbats are eight seasonal festivals that mark the turning of the Wheel of the Year in many pagan and Wiccan traditions. Each sabbat represents a different point in the agricultural cycle, and is associated with specific symbols, correspondences, and rituals. The following is a guide to the sabbats and their meanings:

Samhain (October 31st-November 1st): Samhain is the festival of the dead, and marks the beginning of the dark half of the year. It is a time for honoring ancestors, divination, and letting go of the past.

Yule (December 21st-22nd): Yule is the winter solstice, and marks the longest night of the year. It is a time for celebrating the return of the sun, renewal, and rebirth.

Imbolc (February 1st-2nd): Imbolc is the festival of the hearth, and marks the beginning of spring. It is a time for purification, healing, and creativity.

Ostara (March 20th-21st): Ostara is the spring equinox, and marks the balance of light and dark. It is a time for growth, renewal, and balance.

Beltane (May 1st): Beltane is the festival of fertility, and marks the beginning of summer. It is a time for celebrating love, passion, and abundance.

Litha (June 20th-21st): Litha is the summer solstice, and marks the longest day of the year. It is a time for celebrating the sun's power, abundance, and gratitude.

Lammas/Lughnasadh (August 1st): Lammas/Lughnasadh is the festival of the harvest, and marks the beginning of the harvest season. It is a time for gratitude, abundance, and community.

Mabon (September 20th-21st): Mabon is the fall equinox, and marks the balance of light and dark once again. It is a time for introspection, gratitude, and preparing for the dark half of the year.

Each sabbat is celebrated in its own unique way, with specific rituals, spells, and correspondences that reflect its meaning and symbolism. By honoring the sabbats, we connect with the natural world and the cycles of the earth, and deepen our spiritual connection with the universe.
